ABOUT ME
Hi, I’m Emma — and being a photographer truly is the best job in the world for me. I’m so glad I finally took the big, scary step of turning a long‑time dream into reality. I’m laid‑back, fun‑loving, and a mix of silly and calm — which really helps when I’m getting little ones to laugh or helping families feel comfortable in front of the camera. I live in Buxton with my husband Martin (the “M” in E&M) and our three amazing children. They’re my whole world, and our chaos‑filled adventures inspire so much of what I do. The photo at the top of the page is of my three covered in paint was the moment everything clicked. My maternity leave was ending, time felt like it was racing by, and I wanted to freeze that joyful, messy moment before life sped up again. That’s when I realised: this is what I want to do — capture real memories for other families too. So E&M was born, and I’ve never looked back.
MY BACKGROUND
Before starting E&M, I spent over 20 years working in nurseries and hold a Level 3 diploma in early years childcare. That experience means I know how to make sessions fun, relaxed, and engaging for little ones — and how to read the room when they need a moment, a giggle, or a gentle approach. I’m also trained in Forest Schools, and seeing the benefits of outdoor learning has shaped my style. It’s why so many of my sessions take place outside, where children can explore, play, and just be themselves. I’ve always loved photography, and I know the magic happens when no one feels pressured. So my sessions are relaxed, playful, and full of little moments that show who you really are. With years of early childhood experience and a creative eye, I make sure every session is fun, natural, and true to who you are. My mission is simple: to celebrate real moments and capture the genuine spirit of every family I work with.
CAPTURING INDIVUALITY
Our three children inspire me every day and remind me how beautifully unique everyone is. I have two sons and a daughter, and they couldn’t be more different — which is exactly why I understand how important it is to capture each person’s true personality. We take the time to get to know every family we work with, so your photos feel personal, genuine, and completely “you.” Whether your child loves to dance and be creative like our daughter… prefers exploring the tiny details of the world like our youngest… or is always chasing the next adventure like our oldest… we make it our priority to bring out each person’s individuality in every shot.

A LITTLE NOTE ABOUT MARTY!
Martin is my husband, biggest supporter, and the “M” in E&M. He’s also an incredible photographer with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art Photography. When he’s free, he sometimes joins me on sessions, and our combined skills work brilliantly together. He loves helping out, sharing his creative eye, and yes… we do have a friendly competition over who can get the standout shot. And whether it’s just me or the two of us, you’ll still get the same laid‑back, laughter‑filled session.
A LITTLE MORE ABOUT US.
I LOVE family time — it means everything to me. When we’re not working or tackling our loft conversion (we’re doing it ourselves with the help of some amazing family and friends… I’ve become quite the dab hand at plasterboarding), you’ll usually find us off on an adventure or relaxing with a beer during a games night. Our absolute favourite days are long, sunny ones on the beach with our favourite people around us. That’s my happy place. Thank you so much for taking the time to look around my website.
